February 06, (THEWILL) – A former Director of Defence Information, Maj-Gen Chris Jemitola (rtd), is dead.
Jemitola was reported to have died in the nation’s capital on Thursday, after he collapsed at the IBB Golf Club in Asokoro.
Family sources confirmed that Jemitola was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The late General was the Corp Commander, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigeria’s Defence Adviser to Brazil and Director of Army Public Relations. He served as Obasanjo’s ADC from 2003 to 2007 as a colonel.
Gen. Jemitola, who hailed from Ososo in Akoko Edo Local government area of Edo State, later became the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) in the Nigerian Army before his retirement.
