March 25, (THEWILL) — The police have arrested four suspects allegedly involved in a N150 million land scam targeting a retired military general and other victims in Abuja.
The suspects were apprehended following a thorough investigation into a fraudulent scheme in which they allegedly impersonated officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and leveraged the name of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to gain the trust of unsuspecting victims.
According to police sources, the prime suspect, Yashim Kajang, was arrested on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at his residence in Kurudu, Abuja.
He is accused of defrauding Major General A.K. Ibrahim (rtd) and several others of over N150 million under the guise of facilitating land allocations in the high-value Guzape II Cadastral Zone.
Investigations revealed that Kajang allegedly convinced his victims that he had direct access to the office of the FCT Minister and the Director of Lands.
On the strength of this claim, he reportedly collected huge sums with promises to deliver genuine land documents for Plot 1985, a three-hectare parcel, as well as other plots in the area.
Further findings indicated that Kajang did not act alone.
During interrogation, he reportedly named three accomplices — Stephen Mhambe and Danladi Jatau, both linked to the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the FCTA, and Terngu Ipaven of Durumi 2, Abuja.
Kajang is said to have confessed that the trio supplied him with critical land-related data and information, which he used to make the fraudulent transactions appear legitimate.
All four suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue, with authorities working to uncover the full extent of the alleged fraud and trace other possible victims.
Police authorities reiterated their commitment to protecting citizens and ensuring that individuals who exploit public trust for personal gain are brought to justice.
