
May 27, (THEWILL) – A Lexus driver rammed into a moving truck, killing four persons, but two persons were rescued unhurt from the accident, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State, Florence Okpe, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta at the weekend.
Okpe said that the crash occurred when the Lexus car with registration number KTU738HM, collided with a Mack truck with registration number T21024LA
She said that the cause of the accident was due to excessive speed and the use of a mobile phone on the part of the Lexus driver, which led to the loss of control of the vehicle ramming into the truck
The superintendent route commander said that six persons (all male), were involved in the crash, while two persons were rescued unhurt, while the other four persons died on the spot.
She said the bodies of the killed victims were deposited at Real Divine Hospital morgue, Ibafo.
The Sector Commander, FRSC, Ogun Sector Command, CC Ahmed Umar, however, cautioned motorists on the use of phones while driving and the dangers associated with such.
