SAN FRANCISCO, September 28, (THEWILL) – Fresh Boko Haram attacks in Gamboru/ Ngala, the Nigerian border town with Cameroon and Chad, in Borno State, have claimed the lives 27 persons, including that of the village head of Gamboru “A”, Lawan Ali Shettima.
The gunmen were said to have attacked the communities of Fulatari and Kanumburi in Gamboru/Ngala Local Government of the state on Wednesday and Thursday.
The first attack was said to have occurred about at about 11pm on Wednesday while the second attack took place on Thursday at about 10pm.
In the first attack, six people were said to have been killed and four persons sustained injuries in Fulatari while 21 people lost their lives in the second attack.
Those killed in the second attack included the village head of Gamboru “A”, Lawan Ali Shettima.
The Caretaker Chairman of Gamboru/Ngala, Alhaji Modu Gana Bukar Sherriff , said on Saturday that he had paid condolence visit to families of those who lost their lives.
The Caretaker Chairman who was visibly shaken by the attacks, described them as heinous crime against humanity which must be condemned by all right thinking persons.
He implored relatives of the victims to take solace in Allah and prayed that Allah to grant the deceased eternal peace.
He disclosed that he had given N100,000 and four bags of rice to each family of the victims and had also donated N500,000 and 200 bags of rice to the Civilian JTF who also lost their colleagues in the attack.
He also assured them of his continued support at all time and urged them not to relent in their efforts towards protecting lives and property of the people in the state.
