May 29 (THEWILL) — Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the “Rivers First” doctrine, pledging intensified accountability, infrastructure expansion, and people-centred governance as his government marks its third year in office.
In a goodwill message issued on the anniversary, Fubara said the “Rivers First” philosophy has remained the central guiding principle of his administration over the past 36 months, shaping policy direction, project execution, and resource allocation across critical sectors of the state economy.
He stressed that his government has consistently prioritised the welfare of citizens above all other considerations, insisting that public office must translate into measurable improvements in living standards and economic opportunity for the people.
The governor highlighted massive investments in road infrastructure as a major pillar of his administration’s development strategy, noting that such projects were designed to open up rural communities, strengthen connectivity with urban centres, and stimulate economic growth across the state.
He listed key projects driving this agenda to include the Port Harcourt Ring Road, Trans-Kalabari Highway, Elele–Umudioga–Egbeda–Ubimini–Ikiri–Omoku Road, and the Ngo–Atlantic/Oyorokoto Road, among others, describing them as strategic assets for long-term transformation of Rivers State into a regional investment hub.
Fubara further stated that his administration has recorded notable interventions in the education and healthcare sectors, alongside sustained efforts to enhance peace, security, and social stability across the state, adding that these efforts are intended to build a stronger foundation for sustainable development.
While expressing appreciation to the people of the state for their support and trust, the governor pledged that his administration would not deviate from its commitment to transparency and responsible governance.
“What we have achieved in three years is proof that when government and citizens pull in the same direction, progress is possible. As we mark this anniversary, I renew my commitment to you: to lead with transparency, listen more than I speak and ensure that every project, every policy, and every naira spent reflects your interest”, he stated.
Fubara also acknowledged that challenges remain, urging citizens across all sectors, including youths, elders, women, traders, farmers, artisans, teachers, and professionals, to actively participate in the collective task of building a more prosperous state.
The governor further congratulated Nigerians on the country’s 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance, describing it as a milestone that underscores national resilience and unity despite diversity.
According to him, Nigeria’s democratic continuity reflects the capacity of its ethnic nationalities to coexist, manage differences, and remain committed to national progress.
