May 01, (THEWILL) – The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, is expected to deliver the 35th convention lecture of the University of Calabar.
The institution’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Florence Obi, disclosed this at the Senate Chambers of the University during a pre-convocation briefing.
She said Professor Gambari’s lecture will have the theme: “The Leadership and Followership Question in Nigeria – Imperative of Ethical Reorientation.”
Professor Obi said as part of the convocation, HH Alhaji Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano, will be installed as the 6th Vice Chancellor of the institution.
In addition, three persons will be honoured with honorary degrees from the institution including the immediate past President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
In all, she said 7,769 students will be graduating and they comprise 5031 undergraduates, 2153 postgraduate students, 171 diploma students and 413 sandwich students.
A further breakdown of the graduating students shows that eleven students have first-class degrees, 899 second-class upper, 3396 second-class lower and 721 third-class.
As part of the week-long convocation ceremony, several activities will take place including an interdenominational church service, research fair and exhibition.
