December 25, (THEWILL) — The Presidency has dismissed as false a viral report circulating on social media alleging that President Bola Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, with his Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
A statement signed on Thuursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the claim as a deliberate fabrication aimed at misleading the public and sowing discord within the government.
According to the statement, there has been no change in the leadership of the President’s office, stressing that Gbajabiamila remains fully in charge as Chief of Staff, while Muri-Okunola continues to perform his duties as Principal Private Secretary.
“There is absolutely no truth to this story. Nigerians are advised to disregard it entirely. The Chief of Staff remains in his position. The Principal Private Secretary likewise remains in his role. Hakeem Muri-Okunola has not replaced Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff”, The Presidency clarified.
It further condemned the spread of fake news, describing the viral claim as the handiwork of mischievous individuals whose sole objective is to create unnecessary tension and confusion within government circles.
Onanuga also urged media organisations and social media users to uphold professional standards by verifying information through credible and official channels before publishing or sharing unconfirmed reports.
