April 15, (THEWILL) – Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr Barnabas Gemade, has declared his intention to contest the 2023 Governorship seat in Benue state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with a promise to use his influence and diplomatic skills to address prevailing challenges and restore prosperity and viability as an entity.

He said this will be done by redefining her institutional integrity, geopolitical and economic centrality as a sovereignty beyond mere political rhetoric.

Unveiling his working document entitled; “Re-engineering A Modern Benue For Prosperity”, before the State Working Committee (SWC) of APC in Makurdi on Thursday, Gemade said he was most qualified for the job.

“This implies that the dignity of the Benue person shall be restored and our corporate interest and image equally reintegrated under the thriving presidential democracy.”

Chief Gemade, who is the immediate past senator representing Benue North East at the national assembly, noted that he earned and demonstrated character by age, with experience and maturity through varying service opportunities and disposition in his previous assignments.

He said, there seems to be abundant evidence and common knowledge that Benue state building efforts have endured obstacles and deficits that can only be addressed by competent capacity leadership.

“I have decided to focus more on re-engineering a failed system with appropriate repairs in order to guarantee sustainable succession in the interest of future emerging generations. I seek your consent as a perfectly sharpened instrument of service whose motives are exceptionally genuine.”

He promised to pay priority attention in the areas of Education, Agriculture, Commerce and Industries, Youth and Women development, Local Government, Chieftaincy and Rural Development, Economic reconstruction and Security so as to raise the financial status of the state.

Earlier, the Director General, Gemade Governorship Campaign Organisation, Citizen Richard Asema, said the aspirant is an all rounder in all sector of human endeavours with cutting across both in public and private sector, and called on APC leadership to give him the ticket to fly in next year’s general election.

Responding, the state chairman of APC, Mr Austin Agada, commended Gemade for his courage to run for the seat, describing him as a go-getter.

Represented by the State Publicity Secretary, Mr Dan Morgan Ihomun, Mr Agada promised to ensure that all aspirants have a free playing ground devoid of favouritism, calling on party supporters to avoid insults on opponents.
