March 03, (THEWILL) — The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) elders forum in Benue State, Chief Barnabas Gemade, has said that former governors, Moses Orshio Adasu and Governor Alia, have proven that only people of Benue North East can deliver good governance in the state.
Addressing the APC State delegates at the IBB Square, Makurdi, on Tuesday, Chief Gemade noted that, over time, the people of Benue South, who have yet to have the opportunity to govern the state, would have a chance to prove themselves in governance.
He paid growing tribute to Governor Alia for delivering good governance for the people of the state, saying Benue APC is standing behind Governor Alia to continue in office beyond 2027.
“I, Chief Barnabas Gemade, the former national chairman of PDP, nominated Alia and was voted into office, but is not appropriating him to himself as other people who are claiming to nominate Alia want to appropriate him to themselves”, Gemade stated.
He stated that Governor Alia has done well in the area of agriculture, commerce, security, youth empowerment, among others, noting that what Alia has done within a short time in office has swallowed what others have done in the past years.
Chief Gemade called on those who are yet to join the party to do so for Alia to continue beyond 2027, saying any group parading parallel results of the State APC Congress will not be accepted.
He warned that those thinking Benue should remain perpetually in poverty should desist forthwith for the good of the state.
In a goodwill message for Benue North West, Dr Hinga Biem commended Governor Alia for delivering good governance through the construction of people-oriented projects in about three years in office.
He assured that people of zone B will stand with him in 2027 to continue with the good work he is doing so far.
In his speech, Barr Peter Ochijire, who spoke for Benue South, described the event at the IBB square as legitimate been supervised and conducted by officials from the APC national secretariat.
He lauded Governor Alia’s achievements, citing security and infrastructural development as standout successes of the current government.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Mr Solomon Wombu, CPC, thanked Governor Hyacinth Alia for creating an enabling environment for the State Congress to hold at the IBB square.
He also commended the National Working Committee of APC for sending in people of impeccable credentials to come and conduct the elections, saying Governor Alia has turned Benue State into a construction site for the benefit of all.
