March 30, (THEWILL) – Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has extended warm felicitations to women and mothers in celebration of the 2025 International Mother’s Day, popularly known as Mothering Sunday.
In a statement marking the occasion, Governor Diri highlighted the critical role of mothers in shaping families, society, and nation-building. He described this year’s theme, “Beauty of Motherhood,” as a fitting reflection of the invaluable contributions of women.
“Mothers are builders and nurturers. They are the pillars of family and societal cohesion and growth. Without them, every home, family, and society would lack direction and stability,” Diri said.
The governor took a moment to reflect on the influence of his own mother, emphasizing the virtues of love and sacrifice that define true motherhood.
“This day provides an opportunity to appreciate the role of mothers in instilling the right values in children. My mother, for instance, was a symbol of unconditional love and selflessness—a true epitome of virtue,” he stated.
Diri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting women through affirmative action, skills acquisition, and empowerment programs aimed at enhancing their economic and social standing.
“As we celebrate our mothers today, I urge them to remain the unifying force within families and society. Well-nurtured children are the foundation of a stable and progressive nation,” he added.
