June 25, (THEWILL) – Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has settled the rent bill of the daughter of the late Emir of Kano, Zainab Jummai Ado Bayero, her brother and mother a few hours before the deadline of the eviction notice served on them by the owner of the apartment in Lagos.
This was contained in a statement distributed to newsmen in Kano by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawaki Tofa.
According to the statement, Sanusi Bature, who represented the Governor, arrived in Lagos in the early hours of Tuesday, June 25, 2024, to meet with the General Manager of the apartment where the Ado Bayero family have lived since early this year, Mr Sunel Kumar, who vowed to evict them by 3pm same day.
The Governor’s intervention followed a narration of their ordeal in the newspapers by Princess Zainab Bayero on behalf of her mother and brother.
Zainab is a passionate documentary producer who recently worked on the personality profile and documentary of her late father, Ado Abdullahi Bayero.
Receiving the representative of the Kano State Governor in Lagos, Zainab and her mother deeply appreciated the kind gesture of Governor Yusuf by rescuing them at the right time.
“You came at the right time, we were about to be forcefully evicted from the facility for our inability to pay the rent. They said today is the final, we must move out by 3pm and you came just fifteen minutes before that time. They have already mobilised youths to move us out of the apartment. Alhamdulillah for your arrival,” Zainab stated.
On his part, Sanusi Bature, who represented Governor Yusuf, said the Kano State Governor’s humanitarian intervention was because many citizens of the state felt that the matter did not portray the royal family and Kano in a good light.
“They are not only members of the Royal Family, they are our Muslim sisters and brother currently in need,” Bature stated.
