May 22, (THEWILL) — Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his commitment to good governance after emerging as the sole governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election, promising to deepen development efforts through what he described as “ARISE Agenda 2.0”.

Governor Eno, who was overwhelmingly nominated during the APC governorship primaries held at the Government Primary School, Ikot Akpabin, in Ibiakpan Obotim Ward II, said the massive endorsement by party delegates was a call to greater service to the people of Akwa Ibom State.

Speaking shortly after the exercise, the Governor assured party faithful that his administration would review the gains of the current ARISE Agenda, identify existing gaps and intensify efforts to deliver more impactful governance in a second term.

“What you have done today is indeed a clear message for me to work some more, and I understand the message perfectly. By the grace of God, I will continue to put in my best in the service of Akwa Ibom State”, he stated.

Governor Eno described the emergence of a sole governorship aspirant under the APC as unprecedented in the political history of the state, attributing the peaceful and transparent conduct of the primaries to reforms in the electoral process.

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and members of the National Assembly for providing what he termed a framework that has made party primaries more open, free and transparent.

The Governor also pledged Akwa Ibom’s continued support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid, saying the President should be allowed to consolidate on his developmental programmes, while equally assuring Senator Akpabio of support for his return to the Senate and continuation as Senate President.

He urged political parties and aspirants across the country to emulate the APC’s peaceful conduct, cautioning against campaigns of calumny capable of overheating the polity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, the APC governorship primaries recorded massive turnout across wards in Itu Local Government Area, where party faithful and delegates openly declared support for Governor Eno’s second-term ambition.

The Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Area, Hon. Ubong Nkutt, described the large turnout as evidence of widespread satisfaction with the Governor’s leadership and developmental strides across the state.

Similarly, the Commissioner for Housing and Political Leader of Itu, Dr Henry Archibong, hailed Governor Eno as a visionary and result-driven leader whose achievements have continued to attract growing acceptance among the people.

At Itam Secondary School, venue of the exercise for East Itam III Ward 5, Archibong commended party members for the peaceful conduct of the exercise and urged them to sustain the same level of unity during the APC presidential nomination exercise expected to produce President Tinubu as the party’s flag bearer.

Other party stakeholders across Itu also endorsed Governor Eno for a second term, describing his administration as people-oriented and inclusive.

A former governorship aspirant from East Itam 5, Ward 7, Mr James Iniama, also commended the Governor for what he described as impressive performance during his first term and called on party faithful to support both Governor Eno and President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
