February 12, (THEWILL) — Benue State government has refuted allegation by Senator Abba Moro of marginalisation of Benue South senatorial district of projects by the Governor Hyacinth Alia-led administration.
Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, who dismissed such insinuation when he appeared at the Correspondents Chapel Forum in Makurdi on Wednesday, described such position as mischievous, and an act of ignorance to score a cheap political point.
According to Sir Kula, Benue South at the moment is enjoying over 56km of road construction cutting across Oju, Igale-Agila, Obagaji, Okokolo, Agagbe at various stages of completion.
Kula clarified that the Otobi Water Works has been reactivated and is supplying water in Oturkpo and its region, a development that is yet to get to urban centres like Katsina-Ala, Gboko, among others.
In the area of health, he explained that over thirty two primary healthcare centres in Benue South are undergoing renovation just like others in Benue North East and West, respectively.
Sir Kula while challenging Senator Moro to show his score card to Benue State and and Benue South in particular, called on him not to weep unnecessary political sentiment, but offer constructive advise to Governor Alia to do more for Benue people.
Speaking further, Kula argued that the Alia administration has ended the perennial flooding in Makurdi through the construction of Idyu drainages to Wurukum and up to George Akume road, which mitigated from there to river Benue.
“The proactive nature of governor Alia has led to president Bola Tinubu to approve the establishment of the Benue State University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ihyugh, over head bridge at Wurukum round about and the 330kva”, Kula declared.
He explained that on assuming office in 2013, the Alia administration inherited 1.6 million IDPs in various camps in the state, while only 900,000 are currently at the camps, indicating that about 700,000 have gone back to their ancestral homes.
The Chief press Secretary, who described security challenges as not only peculiar to Benue State, noted that Niger and Kwara states are facing such coordinated attacks, but that president Bola Tinubu and governor Alia are working in synergy to tame the insecurity tide in the state.
Describing the recent attack on the people of Kwande as unfortunate, Kula said governor Alia has released more motorcycles to security forces stationed in Kwande for effective operations, and approved the construction of Jato-Aka -Tomataan road to ease movement for residents and security operatives.
