July 27, (THEWILL) — The Eyewitness Network (EWN) has called on Nigerians to sustain their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, saying continued public backing is critical to consolidating the gains of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The call was contained in a statement issued on Monday after a high-level meeting of the organisation’s zonal directors from the six geopolitical zones, and signed by its National Secretary, Dr Saviour Ekpe.
The Eyewitness Network (EWN) is a socio-civic advocacy organisation with a presence across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. The group says it promotes responsible citizenship, constructive public engagement, good governance, accountability and policies aimed at advancing national development.
The group congratulated President Tinubu on completing three years in office, describing his administration as one that has demonstrated courage and resilience in implementing reforms despite inheriting significant economic and security challenges.
According to the Network, the administration has made notable progress in economic management through reforms that have strengthened public finances, improved revenue to the three tiers of government, enhanced investor confidence and promoted macroeconomic stability.
It also cited investments in infrastructure, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway and other strategic road and rail projects, saying they would boost commerce and national development.
The statement further highlighted reforms in the oil and gas sector, expansion of domestic refining capacity, gas development initiatives, improvements in the power sector, agricultural programmes to enhance food security, and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which it said has widened access to higher education.
The organisation also commended the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen national security through increased funding, acquisition of modern equipment and enhanced support for security agencies.
While acknowledging that the ongoing reforms have imposed economic hardship on many Nigerians, the group described the situation as a necessary phase in rebuilding the nation’s economy.
It urged Nigerians to remain patient and continue supporting government policies aimed at promoting good governance, transparency, accountability, economic recovery, peace, national unity and sustainable development.
The meeting was chaired by the National Director of the Eyewitness Network, Exlibris Christopher Ekefre, and attended by the organisation’s deputy national director, national secretary and zonal directors representing the six geopolitical zones.
