March 28, (THEWILL) – Gunmen, numbering over 30, on Thursday, attacked the Neni Police station in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra state.
THEWILL gathered that the assailants conducted the attacks between 3 am and 4 am Thursday.
Sources in the area said the gunmen also whisked away some police operatives, including female police personnel at the police station.
The Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the hoodlums attacked the police station with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), but were successfully subdued by the superior fire-power of the operatives, who engaged them, thereby forcing them to flee.
Ikenga refuted reports that arms were carted and police personnel was whisked away by the gunmen.
