March 03, (THEWILL) — Gunmen have launched fresh attacks on communities in Maro and Kallah wards of Kajuru Local Government Area, abducting 14 residents and leaving several others injured in renewed violence that has heightened fears across the area.
The coordinated assaults occurred over two days. The first attack was carried out on Monday, March 2, 2026, in Kallah community, Kallah Ward, while the second took place on Tuesday, March 3, in Bauda community, Maro Ward, in broad daylight.
Sources, who spoke in confidence, said the attackers stormed Bauda village on Tuesday, firing sporadically and sending residents fleeing for safety. One person was abducted during the assault, while three others sustained severe gunshot injuries.
The injured victims were identified as Mr Josiah Abashiya, 53; Mrs Josiah Hadiza, 41; and Mr Daniel Kwanaki, 47. They were immediately rushed to an undisclosed medical facility, where they are currently receiving treatment.
In the earlier Kallah attack, 13 residents were kidnapped by the gunmen. Those abducted were identified as Audu Obaina, Talatu Audu, Friday Audu, Beauty Friday, Jerry Audu, Jonah Philemon, Jumare Philemon, Juliet Philemon, Joel Philemon, Baby Philemon, Ephraimu Diwa and Esther Ephraimu.
One resident, Diwa Makama, was also injured during the Kallah invasion and is said to be receiving medical attention.
Residents of Maro and Kallah wards expressed anguish over the recurring assaults, lamenting that communities across Kajuru LGA continue to live under constant threat. They called on the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to safeguard lives and property.
A security source hinted that a swift response by nearby security personnel helped reduce the scale of casualties during Tuesday’s attack, preventing what could have been a more devastating outcome.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Kaduna State Police Command nor the Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs had issued an official statement on the incidents.
Kajuru Local Government Area has witnessed repeated attacks in recent years, with residents persistently urging authorities to deploy sustained security operations to curb the escalating violence and restore confidence in the affected communities.
