February 18, (THEWILL) – The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, Sylvanus Namang, has been killed by gunmen.
An official of the party, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Namang was shot on Saturday, in Pankshin town, Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.
He added that Namang was shot at a provisions store in the Pankshin Local Government Area of the State and died from the injuries he sustained as a result of the gunshot.
Sources from Pankshin said the owner of the provisions store, Sunny Best, was also kidnapped by the gunmen and later killed when the vigilante group and hunters gave the rampaging gunmen a hot chase.
THEEWILL gathered that Namang had travelled to Pankshin LGA for a burial programme.
Efforts to reach Plateau State Chairman and Secretary of the APC in Plateau State, Rufus Bature and Fidelis Namang, respectively, were unsuccessful.
The State Police Command has not issued any statement on the incident.
