Gunmen Kill Traditional Ruler In Kwara, Abduct Wife, Two Others

February 02, (THEWILL) – Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, on Thursday night, killed the Olukuro of Koro in Ekiti local government area of Kwara State, General Segun Aremu (rtd) and abducted his wife and two others.

This is coming barely three days after two traditional rulers were killed by gunmen in Ekiti State.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Rafiu Ajakaye, said the monarch was shot dead in his palace on Thursday night, at about 8:45 pm.

“The governor condemns the killing of Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti Local Government, General Segun Aremu (rtd).

“The monarch was reportedly shot dead in his palace on Thursday nightby some unknown gunmen, who also whisked away his wife and two others.

“The governor condemned the development, which he said was reckless, shocking, and abominable”, the statement read in part.

The Governor charged security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away and bring them to book.

“We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always”, he said while offering his profound condolences to the people of Koro.
