November 04, (THEWILL) – Olu of Wasinmi, Ewekoro, Ogun State, Ọba Sufianu Jolaosho, has waded into the farmers/herders crisis in his kingdom to resolve the problem of hunger and high cost of food commodities in the country occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.
Oba Jolaosho, who made this known on Monday, at a press conference held at his palace to mark his one-year coronation ceremony on the throne, said that was high time he resolved completely the farmers/clashes in his community to encourage farmers to go to their farmlands without fear and cultivate the lands for agricultural food production.
He maintained that he had taken the matter to the state government to find a lasting solution to the crisis, insisting that both parties were now on peaceful terms, stressing that farmers and other people who are interested in agric business could come to Wasinmi to get land for farming to solve the hunger crisis in the country.
“We have gone to the governor’s office at Oke-Mosan to solve the crisis between our farmers and herders so that our farmers can go to the farm and plant their crops to solve the problem of hunger and hardship in Wasinmi and other parties of the state”, the monarch noted.
The traditional ruler also mentioned the 10 kilometres road construction project from the community to Ogun River, saying that when such a road is completed, it would increase accessibility and mobility as well as ease transportation difficulty of people, goods especially agricultural produce and services in the area from one place to another.
“The contractors came and met me at the palace and said from Iyana Mosan to Sigo, My chiefs and i walked with them to see how the construction would go, but I can’t say the kilometres, but it will be 9 to 10 kilometres, they want to construct the road from Wassimi to Ogun Rivers and I have told contractors handling the road to employ our people in building the project”, he stressed.
