November 18, (THEWILL) – Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has disclosed that his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, had numerous prominent suitors, including pastors and oil magnates, vying for her hand in marriage before they tied the knot.
Nwoko made this revelation during a dinner discussion with friends and Regina’s mother in a viral video circulating on social media.
His remarks come weeks after Regina disclosed on Instagram that she had 20 boyfriends, each serving different purposes, before her marriage.
The actress, however, clarified that none of the relationships were sexual.
The 63-year-old lawmaker and lawyer affirmed that Regina remained untouched by her numerous suitors, whom he described as pastors, oil barons, and film producers.
He stated, “While she is such a gem, just like she mentioned in an interview some weeks ago that she had 20 men, yes, let me tell you, she told me there were so many suitors, including revered pastors, oil bunkers, and film producers.
“She gave me the list of her suitors and told me they were pampering her, sending her things, but she had nothing with any of them. By the time we got married, she was a virgin. So, I thank her mother for her upbringing because Regina could have turned wayward if not for her mother’s training.”
Nwoko recounted how he sought Regina’s hand in marriage through her mother. Despite his urgency to marry the actress, he adhered to traditional norms after being advised to follow proper procedures.
“I went to her mother and told her why I was there. As a traditional man, I knew I was supposed to go to my father and uncle’s house, but I told myself I didn’t have time for the formality. I liked this girl and was going to make hay while the sun shone.
“But I was told that is not how it is done, and I would have to see the family. So my family and I went back a week later,” he said.
Nwoko also narrated an incident following his first visit to Regina’s home, where tensions reportedly escalated within her family, leading to her temporarily leaving the house.
“That day, I went in jeans and a shirt. When we left her house, I heard the family had an issue because someone called me. The person told me Regina’s brothers and mother were fighting her, they broke some glasses, and Regina left the house. She drives herself and doesn’t know where she’s going,” he recounted.
Nwoko, who married Regina on May 26, 2019, in Aniocha Local Government Area, Delta State, explained that his decision to marry her was influenced by her virginity and their shared community ties.
“While her being from my community was important, virginity was a primary criterion in my search for a spouse,” Nwoko emphasised.
The couple now share two sons and has often been in the public eye for their unconventional marriage and the significant age gap between them.
