June 4 (THEWILL) — Paul Ibe, the media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to summon Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, for questioning over his claims regarding the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Ibe made the call on Thursday in a post on X, arguing that if Igboho genuinely possesses information about those allegedly behind the kidnappings, the security agencies should engage him to assist ongoing rescue efforts.
“Since Sunday Igboho claims to know those behind the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State, I think that the State Security Service (SSS) and other security agencies need to invite him to release those names to them”, Ibe wrote.
He stressed that “every option should be on the table to fast-track the safe release of the school children and teachers”, urging authorities to act swiftly to prevent further harm.
The statement follows Igboho’s recent remarks during a meeting with executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by President Akinteye Babatunde, at his residence in Soka, Ibadan. In a viral video, Igboho alleged that he knew the politicians he claimed were sponsoring kidnappers in Oyo State and warned that he would expose them if the abductions persisted.
Ibe also drew attention to other abduction incidents across the country, highlighting the reported kidnapping of more than 50 schoolchildren in Mussa, Borno State, on May 15, 2026. He questioned the federal government’s apparent silence on the Borno abductions and asked whether victims in the northeast would receive the same level of attention as those in Oyo.
“Why is Tinubu and his government mute over the Borno abduction? Are those school children not Nigerians?” he asked.
The Atiku aide further called for proactive security measures to prevent attacks before they occur, including the deployment of forest guards in vulnerable states. He insisted that government interventions should not be reactive alone but should also focus on preventive strategies.
“This is not just about responding after tragedies; the government must act to stop these attacks before they happen”, Ibe said.
As of the time of filing this report, the DSS and other federal security agencies had not responded to the call to summon Igboho, who continues to maintain that he possesses information on the political figures allegedly linked to the kidnappers in Oyo State.
