November 10, (THEWILL) – The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali-Baba, on Thursday, said a team has been constituted to investigate the attack on the convoy of the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

THEWILL reported that the campaign convoy of the former vice-president was attacked in Borno on Wednesday, in Maiduguri.

Speaking at the 57th ministerial briefing on Thursday, Alkali said, the claim by the Borno State Police PRO, denying the attack, was hasty and not conclusive.

This, he said informed the need to establish a team to make holistic assessments from the various narratives to ascertain the true picture and prevent a reoccurrence.

The IGP insisted that campaigns and rallies are being policed and optimal protection is given, particularly when prompt information is provided about such political events.

He also said, though some aspects of police duties have been commercialized to generate more revenue through the Police specialized automated services (POSSAB) portal, this he said, has been abused.

Alkali also dismissed claims of unscrupulous persons using the portal to gain protection from the police.
