December 09, (THEWILL) — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says over 2.68 million Nigerians have completed their voter registration in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as the first quarter draws to a close.
In a latest update released on Tuesday, the Commission revealed that 1,576,137 applicants completed online pre-registration, while another 1,109,588 finalised their enrolment through physical biometric capture at INEC centres nationwide.
Osun State topped the chart with 208,357 completed registrations — the highest recorded so far. It was followed by Kano with 159,669 and Sokoto with 152,650 new voters.
Other states with strong turnout include Imo (145,561), Borno (123,835), Lagos (123,484) and Jigawa (116,246).
On the other end of the spectrum, some states recorded notably lower figures. Enugu registered 19,275, while Ondo (17,542), Cross River (16,822) and Abia (16,691) ranked among the states with the least participation.
INEC urged eligible citizens who are yet to register to utilise the remaining days, noting that the first quarter of the CVR exercise will close on December 10, 2025.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to expanding voter access and deepening participatory democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
