March 20, (THEWILL) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Francis Nwifuru, as the winner of Saturday, March 18 gubernatorial election in Ebonyi State.
Nwirufu was declared Governor-elect on Monday, at the state collation centre in Abakaliki, by the INEC Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Charles Igwe, Vice-Chancellor, University of Nigeria, Nsuka (UNN).
He polled 199,131 votes to beat his closest rival, Ifeanyichukwuma Odii of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 80,191 votes.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Prof Bernard Odo, came third with 52,189 votes.
