INEC Presents Certificates Of Return To Soludo

November 11, (THEWILL) — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Tuesday, presented Certificates of Return to Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, following their landslide victory in the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election.

Kenneth Ikeagu, the Supervising INEC National Commissioner for Anambra State, who conducted the presentation at the INEC headquarters in Awka, said the exercise was in line with Section 72(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, which mandates the commission to issue certificates of return to duly elected candidates within 14 days.

“We are here to present the certificates of return to the Governor and Deputy Governor of Anambra State following their successful outing in the November 8 governorship election. In compliance with the Electoral Act, I have the honour to hand over these certificates officially”, Ikeagu stated.

According to official results declared by INEC, Governor Soludo, who contested the election on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), secured a decisive victory across the 21 local governments in the State, polling 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 99,445 votes, while Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes. A total of sixteen candidates contested the election across different political parties.

In his remarks after receiving the certificate, Governor Soludo expressed deep appreciation to the people of Anambra for their renewed confidence, pledging to consolidate the gains of his first term.

“This renewed mandate is a call to greater service. We will work even harder to make Anambra a model of good governance, productivity, and shared prosperity”, he said.

The Governor also commended INEC and security agencies for ensuring a credible and peaceful electoral process, describing the outcome as a reflection of the will of the people.

The event was attended by top INEC officials, political leaders, party faithful, and family members.
