January 31, (THEWILL) – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has suspended admissions into the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme at Fountain University, Osogbo over alleged violations of regulatory procedures.
This development brings the total number of institutions barred from offering law admissions to nine, following an earlier decision by the Council of Legal Education to suspend law programmes in eight universities including Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, and the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.
A statement issued on Friday by JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, confirmed that Fountain University was added to the list of blacklisted institutions based on an additional submission from the CLE.
The statement read, “The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announces the suspension of admissions into the Law Faculty of Fountain University, Osogbo for the 2025/26 academic session.
“This follows an additional submission from the Council of Legal Education (CLE), making Fountain University the ninth institution where JAMB will not be conducting admissions into the Law programme for the **2025/26 academic session.”
JAMB further emphasised that it had earlier suspended law admissions in eight institutions, including, Kwara State University, Malete, Kwara State, Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State, Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
It also reiterated that the suspension of the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State will last for two academic sessions (2025/2026 and 2026/2027), in line with the CLE’s decision.
