April 21, (THEWILL) – Residents of Jos, the capital of Plateau, took to the streets on Monday to protest the escalating abductions and killings in the state.
Displaying placards with various inscriptions such as ‘That they do not die in vain’, ‘We walk for peace’, Stop the killings’, ‘Stop the bloodshed’, ‘Every life matters’, and ‘Let Plateau live’, the protesters marched through the Fwavwei Junction community road condemning the insecurity in the State.
The demonstration was led by Christian leaders, including the Plateau chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Polycarp Lubo.
Over hundread locals have been killed recently by armed men who attacked Bokkos and Bassa LGAs.
The chairman of the Plateau CAN, Yakubu Pam, said it was time for stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, security operatives, and community-based organisations, to unite against violence in the State.
