December 25, (THEWILL) — The Kano State House of Assembly has been plunged into grief following the sudden death of two of its members on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

The lawmakers, Aminu Sa’adu (representing Ungogo Constituency) and Sarki Aliyu Daneji (representing Kano Municipal Constituency), passed away within a short interval, marking a double tragedy for the state legislature.

Sources at the Assembly confirmed that Daneji’s demise occurred just an hour after the passing of Sa’adu, who served as the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation.

Sa’adu, a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), reportedly collapsed at the Assembly complex following a brief illness.

He had been at the complex earlier in the day attending a committee meeting before he was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Jibril Falgore, described the loss as irreplaceable, noting that Sa’adu died while on active duty.

Meanwhile, the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased lawmakers, their constituents, and the Kano State Government.

In a statement by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau said, “My heartfelt condolences go to the families of the late lawmakers, their constituents and the Kano State Government.

May Almighty Allah forgive their shortcomings, grant them Jannatul Firdaus, and give their loved ones the strength to bear these irreparable losses.”

THEWILL reports that tributes have continued to pour in from across the country, with Katsina State Governor and Chairman of the Northwest Governors’ Forum, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, also describing the deaths as a profound loss to the Nigerian legislative community.
