March 17, (THEWILL) – The Kano State Government has directed civil servants to validate their March salaries before payment to address discrepancies reported in previous months.
Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Faruk Umar Ibrahim, announced the development while addressing journalists in Kano on Monday.
Ibrahim explained that the decision was prompted by workers’ complaints regarding salary deductions and irregularities in their January and February payments.
He said civil servants have been instructed through their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to verify the salary figures assigned to them and report any discrepancies for necessary corrections.
As part of the process, salary lists will be displayed at strategic locations within MDAs and at the secretariats of the 44 local government areas to facilitate easy verification.
To oversee the exercise, the government has constituted a committee chaired by the Head of Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa.
The committee has been mandated to fast-track the validation process to ensure timely payment of March salaries.
Ibrahim assured workers that the government is committed to paying salaries before the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations and that measures have been put in place to prevent disruptions in government operations during the verification exercise.
