August 28, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government has approved a N50 billion loan for Katsina State to enable it finance some major projects.
The State Commissioner for Budget, Faruk Jobe, made this known on Saturday, during the 2021 citizens’ budget sensitisation workshop held at the old Government House, Katsina.
Jobe said the loan, which was part of the 2021 budget, would be used to complete ongoing projects and embark on new ones.
He disclosed some of the projects that the loan would be utilised, would include construction of under- bypass at Kofar Kaoran and at Kofar Kwaya junction.
Jobe added, “The ongoing projects that the loan will be utilised on include Green Economic Zone, Ajiwa waterworks, road projects, and rehabilitation of general hospitals, among others.
“Part of the loan will be used to construct under-bypass project at Kofar Kaoran and Kofar Kwaya junction.
“We experienced a shortfall of money from the Federation Account and from the Internally Generated Revenue to finance the 2021 budget. The N50 billion loan will assist us to complete some ongoing major projects and take-off of new ones before the end of this year.”
He appealed to residents of the state to pay their tax promptly, adding that this would also help the government to meet its obligations to them.
A member of the Katsina State House of Assembly, representing Charanchi Constituency, Isah Kuraye, assured the gathering that the House would closely monitor the utilisation of the loan.
