November 19, (THEWILL) — The Chairman of Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Hussaini Aliyu, has released the names of the 25 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive School, Maga.
Aliyu also cautioned against what he termed “inflammatory and unverified” remarks by U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore, who had suggested that the attack occurred in a Christian enclave. He dismissed the claim as false.
He clarified that all the abducted students are Muslims and urged foreign officials to verify their information before commenting publicly on sensitive national issues.
According to him, misleading narratives risk undermining ongoing rescue efforts and distorting Nigeria’s security situation before the international community.
Aliyu noted that the Maga community, under the Zuru Emirate, has a long history of peaceful coexistence among religious groups. He warned that unfounded statements could jeopardise this harmony and cast the country in a negative light. He appealed for caution and responsible commentary, especially from individuals in influential positions.
Reassuring residents, the chairman said local authorities and security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the safe return of the girls. He called for calm, cooperation, and continued prayers from the community.
The names of the abducted schoolgirls as released by the local government are: Fatima Sani Zimri, Hafsat Ibrahim, Nana Firdausi Jibril, Masauda Yakubu Romo, Hauwa Saleh, Hauwau Umar Imam, Salima Garba Umar, Salima Sani Zimri, Amina G. Umar, Rashida Muhammad Dingu, Saliha Umar, Aisha Usman, Jamila Iliyasu, Maryam Illiyasu, Najaatu Abdullahi, Zainab Kolo, Surraya Tukur, Hafsat Umar Yalmo, Maryam Usman, Amina Illiyasu, Ikilima Suleman, Khadija Nazifi, Hauwa’u Iliyasu, Hauwa’u Lawali and Ummu Kulsum Abdulkarim.
Aliyu expressed confidence that the joint rescue efforts will soon yield positive results, stressing that the safe return of the students remains the top priority for both the community and security agencies.
