ZAMFARA STATE

January 12, (THEWILL) – A Federal Government delegation, on Wednesday, arrived in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, to sympathise with the government and people of the state over the recent attacks by bandits.

THEWILL had reported that bandits raided some villages in Bukkuyum and Anka local government areas of Zamfara, killing over 58 people

The delegation was led by the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (retd.); the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs Ministry, Sadiya Umar Farouq, and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

Other members of the team included the Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi; the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno and the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.

In a related development, the Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu and his Katsina State counterpart, Aminu Masari have visited the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the killings.

Governor Bagudu urged cooperation between the state and the Federal Government, in order to combat the threat to the nation.

He said that although a lot has been done by the government to address the security challenges in the country, there is a need to galvanise resources, mobilise the community, and receive support in order to put an end to terrorism in the country.
