SAN FRANCISCO, September 10, (THEWILL) – Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Thursday said the Kwara State Sports Complex Stadium would be named after late Super Eagles striker, Rashidi Yekini.
Governor AbdulRazaq stated this when he paid a visit to the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare in his office in Abuja.
He said: “We will send a bill to the State House of Assembly to immortalize Rashidi Yekini with the name of the stadium changing after the approval.”
THEWILL reports that the deceased Yekini did not only score 37 goals for throughout his playing days for Nigeria, he also scored the country’s first-ever FIFA World Cup goal for the Super Eagles at the USA 94 championship.
