SAN FRANCISCO, Fabruary 05, (THEWILL) – The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has denied the reports attributed to him, claiming that the President Muhammadu Buhari would not return to Nigeria because of faulty aircraft.
The minister, in a statement issued on Sunday by his special assistant, Mr. Segun Adeyemi, said he did not speak with anyone on Buhari’s return.
“The minister has not spoken to anyone on the issue of the President’s return, hence this report is another from the stable of the purveyors of fake news and should be disregarded,” the statement read.
Buhari, who last month left for the UK on a 10-day vacation, has since extended his leave and has notified the National Assembly of the extension on Sunday.
In a statement by his special adviser on the Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President said he would be prolonging the leave to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors.
The presidential spokesman however did not indicate when the vacation will now end.
