March 13, (THEWILL) — The legal community in Ondo State is mourning the death of High Court judge, Justice Bamidele Adeleye, who passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
The death of the jurist was announced in a statement issued on Friday in Akure by the Chief Registrar of the Ondo State High Court, Ayodeji Akinsanya.
According to the statement, the late judge served as the presiding judge of High Court 5 in Akure and was widely regarded as a distinguished jurist whose career on the bench was marked by integrity and dedication to justice.
“It is with deep sorrow and profound grief that the Ondo State Judiciary announces the passing of Hon. Justice B. F. Adeyeye, a distinguished jurist and serving Judge of High Court 5, Akure,” the statement read.
Akinsanya noted that the late jurist was a beacon of integrity, wisdom, and commitment to the rule of law throughout his years of service.
“Justice Adeyeye departed this earthly realm on Thursday, 12th March, 2026. His years of service on the bench were marked by an unwavering commitment to fairness, equity, and the rule of law,” he said.
The statement described the late judge as a respected figure among his colleagues, members of the Bar and the public, noting that he was admired for his erudition, humility and impartiality in the dispensation of justice. It added that his contributions to the growth of the judiciary and the advancement of justice in Ondo State would remain indelible.
According to the judiciary, the passing of a judge represents a significant loss not only to the state’s judicial system but also to the legal profession and the country at large.
On behalf of judges, magistrates, and staff of the Ondo State Judiciary, the Chief Registrar extended condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for the repose of his soul.
Born on January 16, 1961, Justice Adeleye was sworn in as a High Court judge in the Ondo State Judiciary on September 8, 2011.
Before his appointment to the bench, he founded the law firm, Fola Adeyeye & Co., in Okitipupa, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
