March 08, (THEWILL) – Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has extended his felicitations to Christians in the state and beyond as they observe this year’s Lent period, urging them to use the sacred season to pray for enduring peace and progress in Osun and Nigeria.
In a statement, Adeleke emphasized the spiritual significance of Lent, describing it as the foundation of Jesus Christ’s earthly ministry.
He called on Christians to use the 40-day fasting period as an opportunity to rekindle bonds, strengthen relationships, and deepen their faith.
He urged the faithful to emulate Christ’s example by extending a helping hand to those in need, stressing that the message of sacrifice and compassion must not be lost.
He said, “As Christians embark on this year’s Lenten observance, I extend my best wishes to all faithful in Osun State and beyond. Lent is not just a time for spiritual renewal but also a reminder of the invaluable virtues of selflessness.
“As exemplified by Jesus Christ, this period calls for self-examination, strengthening of faith, and a renewed commitment to humanity. I urge Christians to rededicate themselves to the symbolic message of Lent, which revolves around sacrifice, compassion, and selflessness.”
The governor also encouraged Christians to foster love, unity, and kindness in their communities while promoting peaceful coexistence.
“Let us embody the life of Jesus Christ by embracing love, brotherliness, and support for those in need. Additionally, I urge all faithful to pray for divine intervention, especially at a time when certain elements seek to disrupt the peace of our dear state for selfish reasons,” he added.
Adeleke prayed that this season of devotion would bring spiritual fulfillment and divine strength while contributing to the continued peace and development of Osun State and Nigeria.
