December 01, (THEWILL) — The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has approved the promotion of 24,202 senior officers across the four paramilitary agencies under its supervision, marking one of the largest elevation exercises in recent years.
Announcing the development on Monday, the Board, chaired by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, said the promotions, which take immediate effect, form the second batch of senior personnel elevated in 2025.
The exercise reinforces ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening internal security and enhancing service delivery nationwide.
According to the CDCFIB, the promotions cut across all four services: the Nigerian Correctional Service led with 11,426 officers, the Nigeria Immigration Service had 4,336 officers, the Federal Fire Service accounted for 2,581 officers, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps recorded 5,859 officers.
The Board stated that the elevations followed a rigorous process involving examinations, performance evaluations, and service assessments.
It commended the dedication and professionalism of the personnel and urged them to uphold renewed commitment in their upgraded roles.
Tunji-Ojo described the exercise as a significant morale booster and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving welfare, professionalism, and operational efficiency across the paramilitary sector.
