SAN FRANCISCO, September 09, (THEWILL) – Premiership club, Manchester United, has congratulated its former star player and Portuguese international, Cristiano Ronaldo, on scoring his 100th and 101st international goals for his country in their 2-0 defeat of Sweden in the UEFA Nations League match played on Tuesday.
“Congratulations to Cristiano on a century of international goals for Portugal,” the club wrote on its Twitter handle.
The playmaker scored his 100th goal in the 44th minute with a 25-yard free kick and scored the second in the second half.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner becomes the second male footballer to accomplish this feat after Ali Daei of Iran, who scored 109 in his career.
“I managed to beat this milestone of 100 goals and now [I’ll go] for the record. It’s step-by-step. I am not obsessed because I believe the records come in a natural way,” said Ronaldo.
