May 13, (THEWILL) – The Youth Initiative Against Violence and Human Rights Abuse, YIAVHA, has cautioned the outgoing Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong, and the State civil servants, on transparency and forthrightness in handling the process of transition of power to the incoming administration on May 29.
At a Press Conference in Jos, YIAVHA observed that so far, the transition process in Plateau “appears controversial”, blaming the Lalong government for the shrewd manner it handled the inauguration of the Government Transition committee ahead of that of the incoming government, warning the Lalong-led government not to deploy any intrigues that will undermine a smooth take-off of the new administration.
“We request that there be a collaboration between the outgoing Governor and the Governor-elect. This collaboration should be extended to the various committees as required by law in the interest of Plateau citizens”, YIAVHA noted in the press address presented by its Executive Director, Jacob Choji Pwakim.
YIAVHA said, “We would like to call the attention of the outgoing governor, appointees, and civil servants working in these last days of the administration not to indulge in activities that may jeopardise the stability of the new administration.”
