November 03, (THEWILL) – The Lagos State Government has announced a 15-month traffic diversion at Loop 1 on the Apapa-bound lane and Loop 4 on the Badagry-bound lane at Mile 2 for the construction of a transport interchange terminal.
A statement by Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 11, 2024, and end on Monday, February 16, 2026
Noting that the diversion would integrate rail, bus, water and non–motorised transportation, Osiyemi advised that “motorists heading to Oshodi from Apapa will have a through traffic and vice versa.
“Motorists heading to Badagry from Apapa will continue on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, turn into Akinwande Road to link Coker, and access the Lagos-Badagry Expressway to continue their journeys.
“Motorists heading to Lagos from Badagry will also have through traffic and vice versa. Motorists heading to Apapa will be diverted into Durban Road to link Amuwo Odofin Estate and connect with the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway to continue their journeys.
“All diversion routes have been well marked with signs to assist motorists in navigating their destinations.
“Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be stationed along the affected routes to oversee traffic flow.
“Motorists are implored to be patient as the closure is part of the traffic management plans for the construction of the Transport Interchange Terminal project by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority.”
