January 19, (THEWILL) – The Mutual Union of Tiv in the United Kingdom (MUTUK), has pledged to partner with the Tiv sociocultural organisation, the Mdzough-U-Tiv for the development of Tiv communities.
Towards this end, it has acquired two dialysis machines to be donated to NKST hospital Mkar, in Gboko local government area and one to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi.

The President of MUTUK, Dr Kohol Iornem who made the disclosure during a courtesy visit on President General of Mdzough-U-Tiv, Controller General of Nigeria Prison Service, CP Iorbee Ihyagh retired, commended the sociocultural body for the work they have been doing at home.
He promised to work closely with the sociocultural cultural groups to attract development to the state; saying the donation will be among many other things the union intend to do to assist in uplifting the health standard of the people.
In his remarks, the President General of Mdzough-U-Tiv, CP Iorbee Ihagh expressed worry over the continued stay of Tiv people in the Internally Displaced Persons camp, due to activities of the marauding Fulani herdsmen.
He noted with sadness that for seven years now, his Council ward of Moon in Kwande local government area of the state have been taken over by Fulani herdsmen. Thereby, denying original inhabitants access to their homes and farms.
CP Ihagh noted that the situation has caused a lot of hardship to people, most of whom are now living from hand to mouth and challenged federal government to do the needful for the natives to return home.
While calling on Benue people to be united irrespective of political party affiliation so as to fight the common enemy, he said such will also help in promoting the progress of the state.
He blamed the seeming shortage of food and high cost of food items to activities of herdsmen and bandits particularly in the Middle belt which he described as the major producer of food crops in the country.
The retired Controller of Prisons, therefore, commended MUTUK for the role they have been playing over the years for the development of the state and called on members to come and participate in home politics by contesting for positions to contribute to the development of the state and beyond.
