July 03, (THEWILL) — The management of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Area Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has declared its intention to intervene in the renovation of some dilapidated school structures in Benue State.
In Makurdi on Wednesday, N-HYPPADEC Acting Managing Director, Jimo Haruna Gabi, announced that the Commission, in addition to donating relief materials to victims of the Yelwata attacks, is also reciting flood control channels to ensure the free flow of water.
According to him, as soon as money is available, more projects under its purview will be carried out in the state as planned, urging residents of the state to be security conscious and improve intelligence information to security forces to nip attacks in the bud.
Mr Gabi listed items donated to the state government for onward distribution to victims of Yelewata attacks to include, 195 mattress, 195 bags of 50Kg rice, 166 pieces of rubber mats, 130 bottles of maggi seasoning, 130 cartons of palm oil, 65 cartons of treated mosquito nets, 65 cartons of washing detergent, and 10 Hero hunter machine.
Receiving the items, State Deputy Governor, Dr Sam Odeh, commended the Commission for the intervention, saying many were killed, houses and farm lands destroyed in the course of the invasion.
The Permanent Secretary of Benue State Emergency Management Agency, Dr James Iorapuu, represented by the Head of Administration, Dr Donald Kongbenda, called for the extension of the items to the displaced currently residing at Naka in Gwer West Local Government Area.
