October 17, (THEWILL) — The National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), sitting in Abuja, has fixed Tuesday, November 4, 2025, for the mention of a suit filed by Jinaidu Shehu and nine others on behalf of aggrieved N-Power beneficiaries against the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and three others.
The beneficiaries, who accused the ministry of alleged failure to pay their stipends, approached the court seeking an order to compel the federal government to release their outstanding allowances under the N-Power programme.
According to a notice dated September 1, 2025, and signed by the Chief Registrar of the NICN, the case—filed under Suit No: NICN/ABJ/214/2025, will be listed for mention at the court’s Abuja division, located at 10, Port-Harcourt Crescent, Area 11, Garki.
The notice, addressed to the claimants’ counsel, A.A. Hikima, Esq., of A.A. Hikima & Co., Kano State, further stated that service of the process would be deemed sufficient if delivered to the counsel’s office or sent by registered post, in line with the Interpretation Act, 1964.
The N-Power scheme, introduced in 2016 as part of the National Social Investment Programme, was designed to provide temporary employment and skills training for Nigerian youths. However, persistent complaints of unpaid stipends have continued to generate widespread discontent among beneficiaries, sparking protests in various states.
