August 13, (THEWILL) – Stakeholders in the nation’s automotive industry including the National Automotive Design & Development Council (NADDC), National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP), Coscharis Motors Plc, Stallion Motors, Jet Systems Limited and Weststar Associates Ltd, are warming up for this year’s edition of the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) annual training/capacity building workshop, which will be held in Lagos on August 25, at the LCCI Conference & Exhibition Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
The Chairman, National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP) Committee, Dr Mohammed Ibrahim, will be speaking on the efforts by the government to deepen auto gas utilisation across Nigeria at the event.
With over three decades of cognate experience in the international energy industry, the NGEP Committee Chairman, who is the Guest Speaker, will anchor his presentation on the theme Fuel Subsidy Withdrawal: CNG And Electrified Vehicles As Alternatives to Petrol/Diesel.
The NGEP Committee has been driving the Federal Government’s gas initiative, and the Chairman is expected to give an insight into the expansion so far.
In a statement issued by the association and signed by the Chairman, NAJA, Mike Ochonma, the professional body disclosed that Jelani Aliyu, Director-General of the NADDC, who is the Chief Guest of Honour, will also make a presentation at the workshop. In the past few years, the NADDC boss has been at the forefront of efforts towards the adoption of autogas and electric vehicles as an alternative to petrol and diesel fuel.
According to the statement, the NADDC DG will be speaking on the topic of the workshop based on his versed and deep knowledge of the topic.
Also invited as facilitators for the training/ workshop are Yusuf Jimoh Aweda and Wisdom Elijah. Aweda, a senior software engineer in Automation and Artificial Intelligence, will be the training facilitator on the topic ‘Role of New Media In Automotive Industry Reportage’.Elijah Wisdom is the chief executive and founder, Creek Transitway Limited.
He will be providing insight into the topic ‘Autogas/Electric Vehicle as Alternative Amid Fuel Subsidy Removal.
The training programme is aimed at equipping the motoring journalists with the necessary reportorial skills in relation to Nigeria’s automotive industry and globally.
Ochonma, in the statement, added that the theme chosen for the training/capacity-building workshop was predicated on its importance to Nigeria’s automotive industry.
He said it is imperative for journalists covering the automotive sector to be in sync with the latest happenings in the sector, especially at this point in time when many Nigerians are clamouring for alternative fuel following the removal of subsidy on petrol.
