January 23, (THEWILL) – Precision airstrikes by Nigerian Air Force fighter jets, have neutralised scores of terrorists and dismantled their logistics hub in Alawa Forest in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

A statement by Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, said the 3-day operation codenamed “KONAN DAJI”, was conducted following credible intelligence and aerial surveillance, which revealed a significant presence of heavily armed terrorists in the area.

Akinboyewa, said the airstrikes on identified terrorist hideouts, resulted in multiple secondary explosions, indicating the destruction of weapons and ammunition.

The terrorists were suspected of being responsible for the deadly IED attacks in the Bassa community on December 19.

“The operation, part of the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, has significantly weakened the operational capabilities of the bandits and rendered the Alawa Forest uninhabitable for their activities.

“The NAF, in collaboration with ground forces, is committed to clearing the Alawa Forest and its surrounding areas of criminal elements to restore lasting peace and stability to the region,” he said.

Akinboyewa emphasised the military’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining national security.
