October 31, (THEWILL) — The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced a major redeployment of senior officers as part of a strategic reorganisation aimed at boosting operational efficiency, enhancing joint force cooperation, and aligning with the leadership vision of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke.
The new postings, approved by the CAS and effective immediately, affect key operational, training, command, and administrative positions across the NAF headquarters, field commands, and support units nationwide.
According to a statement from the Air Force High Command, the shake-up is part of ongoing reforms to streamline command structures, improve decision-making, and strengthen the service’s readiness in tackling emerging security challenges.
Air Marshal Aneke, who recently assumed command with a pledge to modernise air operations and deepen inter-service synergy, described the redeployment as “a deliberate step toward building a smarter, stronger, and more agile fighting force anchored on professionalism, purposeful leadership, and strategic innovation.”
Under the new arrangement, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Abubakar Abdullahi becomes Chief of Policy and Plans, while AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun takes over as Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna. AVM Ibitayo Ajiboye has been appointed Group Managing Director, NAF Investment Limited (NAFIL) Group of Companies.
Others affected include AVM Precious Amadi, now Chief of Operations; AVM Nnamdi Ananaba, Chief of Air Intelligence; AVM Ebimobo Ebiowe, Chief of Standards and Evaluation; and AVM Ahmed Dari, Chief of Training. AVM Mohammed Ibrahim will now head the Transformation and Innovation Branch, reflecting NAF’s growing focus on technology-driven capability development.
In the engineering and logistics departments, AVM Olufemi Ogunsina assumes duty as Chief of Aircraft Engineering, while AVM Michael Onyebashi becomes Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Mobility Command. AVM David Pwajok has been appointed Chief of Communication and Information Systems, and AVM John Ukeh is the new Air Provost Marshal.
Other postings include AVM Simon Peter as Managing Director, NAFIL Housing and Construction Company; AVM Chidiebere Obiabaka as Air Secretary; AVM Anthony Martins as Chief of Administration; AVM Abubakar Sule as AOC, Logistics Command; and AVM Abdulrasheed Kotun as Managing Director, NAF Farms. AVM Edward Gabkwet becomes Chief of Civil-Military Relations, while AVM Osichinaka Ubadike assumes office as Deputy Commandant, AFIT.
Additionally, AVMs Ahmed Bakari, Albert Bot, Idi Sani, Muhammed Suleiman, Jibrin Usman, and Japheth Ekwuribe have been posted to key inter-service and defence institutions to strengthen joint operations and strategic coordination at the national level.
The NAF described the redeployment as a “forward-looking restructuring designed to sustain operational momentum, institutional efficiency, and mission delivery across all theatres.”
Air Marshal Aneke reaffirmed that his leadership will prioritise professionalism, welfare, training, and innovation, adding that the new appointments “represent a balanced mix of experience, fresh perspective, and mission-driven leadership committed to protecting the nation and advancing air power for national development.”
