February 20, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), has suspended its planned nationwide strike.
This followed Monday’s meeting with the Federal Government and stakeholders, after tanker drivers suspended operations and stopped lifting of petroleum products amid harsh economic realities.
NARTO members had threatened a countrywide shutdown starting Monday, due to the exorbitant cost of automotive gas oil (diesel), which is essential for fuelling their trucks used in transporting petroleum products across Nigeria.
The strike was intended in response to the harsh economic conditions affecting tanker drivers, who had halted operations and refused to lift petroleum products.
