September 23, (THEWILL) — The suspended Senator representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, is set to resume plenary effective the second week of October 2025.
THEWILL reports that Natasha had been suspended in March for six months for misconduct and violation of Senate rules. Her suspension includes the withdrawal of her salary, security details, barred access to the National Assembly premises and identifying herself as a senator.
While her suspension ended in September 2025, Natasha has been unable to resume her duties due to ongoing legal issues and continued opposition from the Senate leadership.
Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamorudeen Ogunlana, had argued that the Senator’s six-month suspension subsists until the Court of Appeal delivers judgement in the suit she instituted against the Senate.
However, recent developments indicate a peaceful resolution of the dispute between Natasha and the Senate has been achieved.
According to Vanguard, the Sergeant at Arms of the National Assembly, along with combined personnel of security organisations, have unsealed Natasha’s 205 office of the Senate wing. This followed a resolution of the senate leadership at a meeting held on Monday in Abuja.
While the Senate, on Tuesday, postponed plenary resumption to October 7, THEWILL gathered that the move to open Natasha’s office prior to resumption is to be in the hallowed chamber upon resumption of plenary next month.
