February 04, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Kenya Airways management met on Tuesday, regarding the viral case between a Nigerian passenger, Gloria Omisore, and Kenya Airways.
The meeting was held following a summon of the airline by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of NCAA, Mr Michel Achimugu, where the case was settled amicably.
The airline’s Country Manager, James Nganga, Station Manager, Eric Mukira, and Duty Manager, Ezenwa Ehumadu, were in attendance.
The outcome of the meeting, according to a statement issued by the NCAA, is as follows: “We informed the airline that the passenger had called Kenya Airways on December 7, 2025, to inquire if she was qualified to fly the Manchester-Paris-Nairobi-Lagos (inbound) and Lagos-Nairobi-Paris-Manchester route. According to the passenger, the airline told her that she was qualified, despite her informing them that she is Nigerian and holds a British resident permit, but no Shenghen visa.
“It was based on this information from Kenya Airways that she proceeded to purchase the ticket. She flew the first leg into Nigeria via Paris and Nairobi with no incidence.”
THEWILL gathered that the airline requested time to check its recorded call log and confirm whether that call actually happened. To achieve that, the airline was granted 48 hours.
“For her outbound flight, the airline boarded and flew the passenger out of Lagos despite knowing that she needed a transit visa for the Paris leg”, NCAA further informed.
In a slight remark to the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the country manager of Kenya Airways stated in very clear terms that the staff was out of order and apologised for the outburst, adding that his bosses in Nairobi would decide on the issue.
Kenya Airways issued a statement on Monday confirming that the passenger was travelling from Lagos to Nairobi, Paris, and Manchester.
“On arrival in Nairobi for her connecting flight (Nairobi-Paris), it was discovered that she did not have a Schengen Visa, which is a requirement for her to enter any European Union Country.
She was offered an alternative to travel through London and onward to Manchester, which she refused.”
“Upon further investigation, we have established that the video does not provide full context.
“Unhappy with this option, the guest demanded accommodation, which Kenya Airways does not provide in cases where boarding is denied due to visa requirements. It is the responsibility of passengers to ensure they have the necessary documentation for their journey.
“In a distressing turn of events, the guest resorted to inappropriate behaviour by removing and throwing 3 used sanitary pads at our employees.”
The airline also stated that the incident has been reported and is under investigation by the relevant security agencies, stressing that they are committed to taking the necessary steps to ensure the well-being and safety of our employees and guests at all times.
