January 29, (THEWILL) – The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, alongside senior officials of Shell Petroleum Development Company, on Tuesday, embarked on an inspection tour of Brightwaters Energy Limited facilities in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The visit, which covered the company’s operational bases in Choba and Emohua, was a follow-up to Engr. Ogbe’s earlier assessment of Brightwaters Energy and other pipe-coating facilities in May 2024.
During that visit, he pledged the NCDMB’s commitment to supporting indigenous service providers in the oil and gas sector to enhance job creation and boost local industry participation.
This latest visit aimed to evaluate the firm’s technical upgrades in preparation for upcoming industry projects.
Speaking during the visit, Engr. Ogbe reiterated the Board’s resolve to showcase and promote local oil and gas service providers to operating companies, ensuring their capabilities are recognised and fully utilized.
He emphasised that strengthening local content aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic agenda of fostering indigenous capacity and job creation.
He noted that Brightwaters Energy had consistently delivered on projects within the exploration and production segment, earning the trust of major industry players, including SPDC and Chevron Nigeria Limited. Based on its track record, Ogbe expressed confidence in the company’s ability to handle key roles in forthcoming projects.
“We encourage operating oil and gas firms to engage competent indigenous service providers, ensuring that projects are executed with the highest quality and within schedule,” he added.
In his remarks, Brightwaters Energy’s Community and Corporate Affairs Manager, Mr. Solomon Aluge, confirmed that the company was well-equipped to handle both heavy and light fabrication works.
He highlighted Brightwaters’ experience in onshore and offshore pipeline engineering and installation, revealing that the company was currently mobilizing for Chevron and Tulcan pipeline projects.
Also speaking, Brightwaters Energy’s CEO, Mr. Scott Gregory, expressed appreciation for the visit by the NCDMB boss and SPDC team, assuring that the company possesses the technical expertise and infrastructure required for major oil and gas projects.
He detailed numerous offshore and onshore projects the company had successfully executed, affirming that Brightwaters remains well-positioned for upcoming industry demands.
Following the tour, General Manager, Local Content, Shell, Mr. Lanre Olawuyi, commended Brightwaters Energy for its impressive infrastructure and technical capabilities.
He assured that Shell’s technical teams would conduct a comprehensive review and explore opportunities to engage the company in upcoming projects.
“We are pleased with the facility improvements since our last visit in May 2024. We hope this will attract more industry patronage, allowing the company to reclaim its leadership position in the sector,” Olawuyi stated.
